Update July 12th 2025: A year after writing this item,  the war with Ukraine continues, the Russian state and Putin prevail and deadlock seems likely for as long as there is money to flow or debts to be accepted; though both economies will be wrecked Russia may recover more slowly as it is larger and has fewer friends. Putin obviously thinks this is his war to win, as he continues to bombard Ukraine in spite of Trump's pompous claims about brining this to a close. Putin is giving Trump the finger continually.

Update January 3rd 2026: "Peacekeeper" Trump can't have Greenland yet?) so he had a go at Venezuela and in doing so is redefining the use of authoritarian powers across the globe.

WAR (Especially modern warfare)

Through the mists of time,
the shrouded depths of eons past,
come the cries of futility and war,
of fallen men, fallen empires
there is no more.
Through the experience of time nothing is learned,
nothing understood,
war kills, stifles, rots and maims;
there is no good.
A war breeds heroes
hate and vengefulness,
it fractures nations
and cosmopolitan in its progress
becomes more, "Couldn't care less".
War of today in these mists of time
indiscriminate with public to view,

could envelope the world of nations, 

families;

me and you.

Jul 01 2024 - Hungary's prime minister Viktor Orban becomes the rotating president of Europe for 6 months, which will strain relations with Ukraine as he is a known friend of Russia's president, warmonger Vladimir (I always put the boot in) Putin. Orban wants to see a ceasefire and is critical of the wests military aid. My question is why and what is in it for Orban?

Jul 04 2024 - Do real Russians never get to know of  this wanton and flagrant waste?

Nov 18th 2024 - A very important/dangerous decree was made by outgoing US president Joseph Biden, in that he allowed Ukraine to commence firing American made long-range missiles into Russia. His reason seems obscure (to me) other than to leave the incoming teams of Donald (the crazy) Trump some real world problems to tackle, whilst they "Make America Great Again". I think Biden is saying as much to Trump as he is to Putin - you are both as bad as each other, so bring it on! This decision may have some historic significance. Putin of course responded with some familiar nebulous threats and let off an ancient ICBM toward Ukraine, whilst the once proud Russian citizens continue to submit to his lunacy or their role in his "meat grinder vanity war". 

Feb 13th 2025 - With a change of  the American president there came a change of  the "official line", which is that Trump wants the Russian war in Ukraine ended, probably because of costs and Trump's desire to look good. Either way, he has set the new agenda, no-matter who does or does not like his approach. Obviously the cessation of any war is good, but I'm pretty sure many Ukrainians feel abandoned to their fate.

SHALLOW GRAVE

The freedoms that we fought so hard to save
Are snatched out of our desperate grasping hands
And buried in an unmarked shallow grave

Despite our struggle, valiant and brave
They slowly seep away like hourglass sands;

Truism (for leaders)

Followers can be the most destructive component of a leader’s influence.

Personal thought - The principles and ideologies of many leaders are ultimately denigrated or returned to a lower order of influence following the actions of followers transposed into zealots.

Zealots, extremists, fanatics - all alienate supporters, devotees, believers and members alike and true leaders have to be mindful of the diminution of their "public" franchise and the potency of their word(s).

There are many words written about the greatness of leaders, but not so much about their struggles with their own followers, whose visions/motives/ideology evolve and undermine those of their leader.

One simple example could be a leader doesn't like the colour green, so after various pathways of mutation, their zealots start shooting people with green eyes and painting foliage brown.

A Despicable Act

Russia!

PUTIN!!!

A despicable and unnecessary act that killed people at prayer was perpetrated by the Russian military this day. Despite their ability to destroy any other part of Ukraine with their pin-point accuracy weapons, they chose to target a church of all things; a non-strategic "target" was wilfully destroyed in Odesa, a world heritage designated area. Non-strategic targets seem to be the new sport of Putin's mob, as they also struck "Harry Potter castle", for no good reason other than they can.

Why?

Because they can, I suppose, but certainly not in the name of many, many Russians, who are a proud people whose standing in the world has and is still being trashed by the corrupted and criminal fraternity now driving that country to a place that is detrimental to all who partake. 

Please wake-up you massed Russians and find the inner strength to subvert the actions of your despot leaders who are running the once proud name of Russia, its heritage and its children into dust.

Killing children in a non-military target . "Normal" Russian must be sooooo proud of their valiant military puppets and dropping drone bombs in random civilians.

Russian irregular troops have turned their backs on Putin and attacked land inside Russia. Will their action be a catalyst for change?

Why do normally proud Russians put up with this nonsense and this is absurd.
