"Seeing is believing" is a common phrase falling into disrepute, to hopefully be replaced in today's media saturated world of deep fakes and AI generation, by "Not seeing is relieving", an alternative of mine, for which this image seems ideal.

ONE FOR THE SOFT-CORE QUEEN

I started this letter whilst sat on the loo,
and the ring on me bum's dedicated to you.

Roses are red, violets are blue,
writing's exciting when sat on the loo;
and now as I sit I'm thinking of you
(more fun to be had with two in the loo!),
so now that it's said - if you know what I mean,
come 'round to my place - I'm still nice and clean.

Oh little Hartlet you know I'm a fan?
Come 'round to Slag-babes and make me a man.
For I'm sitting in bed
and rubbing my head
I can't think of another to woo.
I'm trying and trying
gasping - near dying
but I just can't stop thinking of you.

You asked for an ode - but soft-core porn?
well here it comes - pubes must be shorn.
The second on the list of things to be had
is a big red bed and that you have,
pillows galore to firm those hips
with their hole from home to warm my pips.

And that's about it - all I require,
You bring a bottle - I'll be your sire.
So when can I come - to see you I mean,
for you're now rechristened,
the soft-core queen.

Truism (for the freedom to make decisions)

It is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Personal thought - Some people will hold you back if they don't understand you, or worse still they do understand you and can't stand the thought of their own subjugation - so screw 'em for fearing the need for them to make or sanction a decision and do what you think is right.

MRSA anyone?

Why is it that there seems to be a rule (repeatedly seen on TV), that the more senior a surgeon is, the looser the fit of their obligatory face mask is "allowed" to be?

Watch any real medical show these days and you can easily spot the head honcho; theirs will be the only nose hanging over the top of a mask; the only bush of facial hair visible, or the mask behind which you could herd wildebeests, such will be its looseness of fit.

Does rank allow conceit and disregard for their infection potential? and as we are on a bit of rant now, does anyone ever record the number of MRSA* infected surgical patients blighted by the snot and spit and facial hair of a (senior) surgeon?

* MRSA - Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus

Methicillin is a variant of Penicillin, no longer made, but whose name is now used as a substitute for the many names of other penicillin types.

Staphylococcus Aureus is a "bug" commonly resident on skin and the nose and throat of roughly 80% of us; the remaining 20% of us being long-term carriers of a variant called MRSA which is resistant to all penicillins.

The problem with anything becoming resistant to what usually killed it is it can multiply unhindered, ultimately leading to rampant infection. MRSA bacteria are usually spread through skin-to-skin contact or via air born products from someone who has an MRSA infection or is a symptom free carrier. Being in the presence of MRSA is not desirable!

Déjà vu

What a sh*t job

So here we are again, at the end of another working day bathed in an air of futility that seems almost endemic. It is said that if you smell shit for long enough you no-longer sense it , but having to swallow it in the quantities that issue forth from our "leaders", our "superiors", can make you pretty sick.

I once had a job so bad that to keep today in perspective I re-read an old poem written in 1984. It was originally titled "Room 101" but now it's called "Job Satisfaction (1984)".

Sitting in the box called work
a screen flickers
as if unsure of its mode
and I observe discompassionately.

We talk in jumbled mnemonics
and jargonise,
but not a word is spoken.
The arms of a tin box,
I feed it;
I cater as to a stricken child
on a selfish streak;
feed checks

tape errors
IO's,

WHEN I'M FEELING LOW

When I've had a bad day,
or I'm feeling low;
or the world's overpowering
and I've no place to go;

and cross with myself,
hating others

then I think of you

Hair of the dog

Spirits were raised this weekend in all senses and the hangovers pushed out the malaise of last week, for there remains but a few hairs of the "black dog" that has been around me for a while.

Enjoying the company of colleagues (new and old) we experienced the most disorganised Chinese restaurant in Hull (England) on Friday, whereas on Saturday Wazbag and I experienced our most expensive Chinese restaurant meal in Lincoln. Talk about MSG overload!

Sunday brought a resolution to eat less Crispy Duck (for a while) and sleep more and the thought that life is best served in the presence of friends almost made "truism" status.

With my lighter mood comes the thought that perhaps a most important person may appreciate a poem ....
